Before y ou travel to Greece, it is advisable to bear in mind the following: • Depending on your country of origin, you might need a passport and a visa; you could obtain a visa through the Greek consulate nearest to your residence.• Call your bank or your credit card company to let them know that you will be using it in Greece.• The Electric Current in Greece is 230V AC (50Hz). Appliances from North America require a transformer and British ones an adaptor.• In order to have access to necessary health care, tourists from member states of the European Union (EU) wishing to visit Greece must be holders of the European Health Card (EHIC) or any other legal Community document issued by their competent social security agency. Tourists from countries other than the member states of the European Union must consult their social security agency for information before travelling.• Contact your phone company in order to make sure that your can use your mobile phone in Greece.
Travelling to Skiathos
By plane or ship travelling to Skiathos is relatively simple and quick. Skiathos has its own airport, which means that many airlines operate direct flights to the island especially during the tourist season between March and late October. You will also find connecting flights from mainland Greece and especially from big cities like Athens and Thessaloniki. Many travellers fly first to the capital Athens and after spending a few days there they fly to Skiathos or travel by boat to the island, which is only a few hours away. Volos or Ayios Konstandinos are the ports and they both operate frequent scheduled ferryboats and high-speed boats to the island. You will find more information by visiting the links below.

Skiathos can be reached by either ferryboat (3 hrs.) or hydrofoil (1 1/2 hrs.) from Volos or Ayios Konstandinos. (Ayios Konstandinos is a 3-hour bus ride from Athens.) From Kimi on Evvia, there is also hydrofoil service (50 mins.) and ferryboat service (4 hrs.). In high season, there are frequent hydrofoils daily from Volos and from Ayios Konstandinos, as well as service from Thessaloniki (3 hrs.). A conductor will ask for your destination and assess the fare after the bus is in progress. Buses run at least six times daily April through November; every hour from 9am to 9pm May through October; every half hour from 8:30am to 10pm June through September; and every 20 minutes from 8:30am to 2:30pm and 3:30pm to midnight July through August.By TaxiThe Skiathos Taxi Union was founded in 1986 and has since offered safe transportation to the thousands of visitors to the island. By Small boats
